St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy – Gospa Village

Buffalo, NY

St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy is an independent Mission with a Roman Catholic tradition in the inner city of Buffalo, NY. St. Luke’s is run completely by volunteers, and does not receive money from the diocese or the government. The Mission relies on private donations from corporations, foundations and people who believe in what they do.

“It takes a village to raise a child.”

St. Luke’s completed the Gospa Village project. Gospa means “mother” in Croatian. Gospa Village includes seven homes where mothers and their children live for free with a missionary to help them. There is a community center with a place to celebrate and to learn to give mothers the skills they need to take care of their family through parenting and GED classes.

After decades of charitable experience with St. Luke’s, Dave Knauss, President of Lehigh is the Construction Manager for the Gospa Village project. Anyone interested in making a donation to the project should contact St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy at 716-894-4476.
